Did you know that this time of year if you walk along the river trail, or anywhere milkweed happens to be growing, you may just be lucky enough to find yourself a monarch caterpillar (or two) that you can bring home with you for an up-close and personal view of one of nature's most awe-inspiring miracles?
Well, now you know. And now, we wait . . .

When I was little, my friend and I found caterpillars while we were camping! We were so excited, and we took them home in water bottles stuffed with leaves and grass and sticks, eagerly waiting for them to become butterflies! Unfortunately, we forgot to poke holes in the water bottles, and they died. I hope you guys have better luck! That's so fun! You'll have to post pictures as they progress.
ReplyDeleteOh, Rachel! Sad you had to learn the hard way :( We thankfully have had better luck. One caterpillar constructed his chrysalis just moments after I posted this! Now the second one is following suite. You will definitely see more posts about these little guys!
